Featured Make Up Artist of November 2012:

Melissa Sandoval

Melissa Sandoval has been doing makeup for five years, but it was only a year and a half ago that she decided to take it seriously.  She was working as an Executive Assistant to the CEO of an international cosmetics brand and decided to quit her job and follow her heart to do something she loves.  She comes from a strong artistic background - her grandfather is a musician, her father is an oil painter and her mother is a natural talent for makeup artistry.

Melissa got her start doing makeup for weddings with her sister who does hair.  From there, she volunteered for three consecutive summers at The Pageant of the Masters Festival in Laguna Beach and then she took a theatre makeup and costuming class at nearby Golden West College in Huntington Beach.

She also applied for an internship at The Julliard School to work in the makeup department, but unfortunately was not accepted.  So she packed up and moved to LA.  After landing a corporate job and realizing she still wasn't happy, she heavily began to pursue her dreams as a makeup artist and here she is now.  It has taken a lot of work to get where she is, and although she realizes she still has a long ways to go, she's humbled to see how far she's come.
